Professor Calculus escapes and gives the coordinates of the Hacienda Zalamea where he has been held. The plot turns when the rebels arrive. The rebels are disguised as Federales and have secret orders to kill Professor Calculus as they are unhappy with the non-violent protest. Captain Zero disobeys orders and must be captured. The leader of the rebels (Gato) intends to get his hands on the blue oranges by capturing the Professor and his nephews. Unfortunately for him Zalamea has just arrived at the hacienda and is also hiding and he has not yet been captured.

They go to the ice-planet where the Iceman is. He takes them to his ice palace where he has captured the Duke's henchmen who are now frozen. They find the Duke in a massive ice cube, the Blue asparagus in a pot, and Saruman, frozen in a blue ice cube. The Iceman asks the Doctor to open the pot to release the asparagus but the Doctor cannot.

The Doctor revives and finds that his memory has been taken away. He remembers that Saruman the White is Zalamea's father and, after some adventures with the Duke, escapes. He joins the Doctor, who tells him that Zalamea has destroyed the Professor and that the blue asparagus is the cure.

At the end, the professor is rescued from the Gulliverians by the scientists who have been working on the failed project to artificially mature the orange. Instead, they use the technology to create a new breed of orange, but with the virus removed. These have the potential to mature in just ten days, so are perfect as they will be ready for market.

All the Professor has to do now is to find a way to get back to the mainland. He does this by telling his captors that he knows all about what they are planning to do. He is next taken to a plantation where the criminals have captured a large quantity of the recently discovered orange fruit. This is to be made into a lucrative product which will soon be on sale to the public.

Zalamea and his cousin decide to kidnap the balloon man as he is homeless but the balloon man manages to escape. Everyone else is in for a big surprise as they find the balloon man dressed as a famous movie actor, one of the most wanted men in the whole world... 827ec27edc
