With the notable exception of the 2013 GPU features, AutoCAD has not changed much since 2009. So as with most other brands, we will start with the 2009 version of the software and benchmark the older drivers to make our comparison as fair as possible.
When we first encountered the NVIDIA beta driver for AutoCAD 2010, we initially didn’t believe it. After all, NVIDIA made this software, so why would they release the beta version of the drivers? Only after the official release did we realize that they were serious. The latest beta version of the driver provided the best performance, with the exception of a few features. NVIDIA has released the latest drivers for AutoCAD 2010, which are version 334.00. We benchmark the performance of this new beta driver against the last official release of the driver, which is version 336.00. (Note: If you have any of the other three official drivers installed, they will automatically be uninstalled and we will not bother trying to use them in a test.) Before running AutoCAD, we give it a quick reboot for safe operations. We perform a test with a single project (printing the –prototypes) and a test with several projects implemented using printing commands, two of the primary AutoCAD modes. Finally, we perform a second test with a project that uses the entire GPU processing power by rendering polygons. d2c66b5586
