Another important invention to improve the performance of the Deep Learning techniques was TensorFlow and TensorFlow Lite. These two programs greatly improved the process of creating deep neural networks, the results obtained by the network, speed of creating these networks, and accessibility to these networks over a web browser. They also greatly increased the use of deep learning techniques, created these techniques, and improved many of the research studies that have been performed in the last years. With these however, comes the challenge to understand the results of a study and its validity. Deterministic fading models for highways are a particular case that is researched a lot, but very little works showed the results of convolutional networks in these areas. One of the reasons for this is that the current data is very limited. Furthermore, the latest data models are more realistic than the previous ones. This is why we decided to create a set of videos, with different time resolution, of two highways from different Brazilian states to add to the state of the art for highway studies. One of them is in São Paulo and the other is in the capital of this state, Brasília. We are adding this data to the IBH-Server towards release 9, and we would like to invite others states to share their data on this server too.
More recent studies showed the results obtained by convolutional networks, but they also show that there are still many drawbacks in these networks, which must be worked on. One of the advances on CNNs is to sample networks, especially running them in neural networks on graphics cards, which is still very expensive and needs to be considered as a new cost of these techniques.
A new study was developed regarding the use of CNNs in interstation inspection. The type of inspection that is designed to detect differences between old and new sections of a ground infrastructure. This inspection is done to ensure their integrity, since the sections of the infrastructure need to be regularly inspected to ensure there are no breaks that could lead to a collapse as the infrastructure ages, and to ensure that the sections can sustain a heavy weight load. The main goal of this work was to show if interstation inspection can be performed with a CNN. It is a fundamental to verify if these techniques can help to save time and money of companies that work on such infrastructure. d2c66b5586
