Design: The S-Vision is a mountain bike binding with a higher profile than either the K-Vision or the P-Vision. The two-piece lower plate extends onto the outriggers of the bindings which allow for wider lateral clearance for the foot. The lugs are made of Zytel polymer which had been used sporadically on prototype lower plates. The S-Vision was the first binding to use a higher profile plate that extended onto the outside of the toe lug. The idea was to add both lateral and vertical clearance.

Constraints: The primary difference with the S-Vision is that it’s based around the use of Zytel plastic for its tie lugs. While suitable for layering and reinforced areas of the frame, for outer zones (around the BB and headtube) the rubbery utilised on the P and K-Vision can be used instead. The S-Vision uses a separate pad type insert which is kept in place with a series of small clamps in the toe section. These clamps are in place to ensure the outer toe of the binding remains sufficiently rigid for the Zytel to maintain its shape and fit snugly to the foot.

Although the previous Salomon bindings have for the most part been replaced by the K-Vision, the S-Vision is still available to rent. K-Vision bindings can be found in most states, but rental customers should contact the shop where they purchased the bindings to find out if they have any.
