Chalpin then did a remix, overdubbing a vocal by Bobbie... (?!) in what is perhaps the most confusing cross-over of back-songs. This highlights that the whole thing is an utter and complete mess. Only the bass tracks survive intact and you can hear why.
The two Johns, Jimi and Kirk, (both hean audible on the track) come on at the beginning of all the songs and play a mournful wah-wah guitar in what sounds like the same patterns, but somehow all separate. None of this, I repeat none, of this makes any sense atall and, as the songs come into their proper form, we get a real shock...
The "straight" concerts of 1965 - 1966 on the previous CD were mostly taken from the Shirley-backed live album, "Allow Me To Back That Unusual Sound Of Sorrow" (with Brian Wilson) and the 2-CD reissue, "The Very Best Of The 1966 Capitol Sessions" on the Capitol label. In contrast, here is a slightly manic, uncut live 1966 - 1967 recording with a low quality vocal on it.
It's now time to see how they go upmarket in dementia and in a complete about turn, abrasing everything that came before! All the 1966-7 material (there is none from the summer 1967) is now put on pre-dig bootleg format CDs. d2c66b5586
